We’re looking for Casual Lake Rangers to provide occasional cover to the Lake Ranger team.
Working with our experienced and dedicated team of four Lake Rangers, you’ll work flexibly, providing additional cover such as during staff holidays or during busy periods. Working days include weekends, weekdays and public holidays, from approximately 09:00 to 21:00, although work hours can be shorter within that timeframe.
The role
The Lake District National Park is England’s largest World Heritage Site, inscribed due to its outstanding universal values of Identity, Inspiration and Conservation.
Your working base will be near Bowness on Windermere, but you could be helming a boat on either Windermere, Ullswater, Coniston Water or Derwentwater supporting the thousands of visitors enjoying the fantastic lakes we are lucky to have here in the Lake District.
The role is predominately outdoors based, out on the lakes.
You will help to maintain and enhance the reputation of the lakes as a safe and well managed place. Working daily with all lake users to promote safe enjoyment and when necessary, enforce the lake byelaws.
This is a diverse role which involves lake boat patrols, communicating with a range of lake users, working closely with our volunteers, supporting the many businesses around the lakes and making sure all our kit, equipment and boats are kept in good condition.
About you
We require someone with excellent communication skills, and you must have a RYA power boat level 2 qualification as a minimum.
