Full time, fixed term contract for 12 months
Do you enjoy making things run smoothly behind the scenes?
We’re looking for a Business Support Officer to join our Visitor Engagement team on a 12 month fixed term contract, supporting the day to day operation of our Information Centres and wider service needs to help deliver inspirational experiences for visitors to the Lake District National Park.
What’s it like to work with us?
Our people are passionate about the landscape and proud of the role they play in looking after it for the nation. We are innovative and agile in our approach to work, ensuring we get the best from our resources.
We’re a medium size organisation, which puts us in a good position to be adaptive and able to act on our decisions. Our staff know each other and can quickly form workplace relationships to make great team players and problem solvers.
We operate a hybrid way of working combining working from home, in our Information Centres and days at our office base at Wayfaring House, Kendal. You’ll be provided with a laptop to enable you to access our secure IT network when working remotely.
The role
You’ll provide high quality administrative and operational support to the Visitor Engagement and Information Centre teams.
Your main duties will include:
• Providing day to day administrative and coordination support to the service
• Supporting financial processes, including invoices, purchase orders and basic budget and EPOS monitoring
• Assisting with retail and merchandising, stock rotation and stock takes in centres across the National Park
• Supporting visitor engagement activity, including training logistics, enquiries and event coordination
• Managing data, records and reports, helping ensure information is accurate, accessible and up to date
This is a varied, hands on role for someone who is organised, reliable and enjoys supporting others. You’ll play a key part in keeping systems, processes and information flowing – enabling frontline teams to focus on welcoming and supporting visitors.
The role offers a great insight into how a complex, visitor facing service operates across multiple sites.
About you
You’ll be organised, methodical and confident handling a range of tasks and priorities. You’ll enjoy working as part of a team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive, professional service.
You’ll bring:
• Experience in an administrative or business support role
• Good customer service skills, ideally in a visitor facing, retail or similar environment
• Confidence using IT systems, including Microsoft Office and spreadsheets
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage information accurately
• A proactive, flexible approach and willingness to help where needed
